Belington Wellness Center to host 12th annual 5K Turkey Trot

BELINGTON, W.V. — Barbour Community Health Association’s Belington Wellness Center, will host its 12th Annual Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 4th, 2023. Each year, this event benefits the Heart and Hand House and Belington Presbyterian Church, organizations that give back to the Barbour County communities in various ways.

The 5K run/walk will be held at the Belington Wellness Center (70 N. Sturmer Street, Belington, W.V.) and is on a mostly flat course through Belington. The Turkey Trot is open to walkers and runners of all ages. Participants will be divided by age, as follows: 10 and under, 11 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and up.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 7:45 am – 8:30 am: Registration for runners and walkers
  • 9:00 am: 5K Turkey Trot Begins
  • 9:15 am: 1-mile Fun Trot Begins
  • 10:15 am: Race Awards Ceremony

“We are super excited to host the Turkey Trot event again this year. It is an honor to help the Heart & Hand House and Belington Presbyterian Church as they serve hundreds of residents during Thanksgiving and throughout the year,” says Kim Bolton, Belington Wellness Center Director. “We hope to see many participate in this opportunity to help others in our
wonderful community.”

Awards will be presented to top finishers in the seven age categories following the 5K race, as well as a turkey awarded to the overall male and female winner. Awards will also be presented to participants with the top 3 best fall-themed outfits.
