Barbour Republicans to host public forum on President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill

A public forum Sept. 16 in Philippi will focus on President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill. Jason Huffman of Americans for Prosperity will present, followed by a Q&A and light refreshments.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., a public forum will be held in Burbick Hall at Battlers Knob in Philippi, West Virginia, to discuss the passage of President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and how it benefits the citizens of Barbour County and all West Virginians.

Organized and hosted by the Barbour County Republican Executive Committee, the forum is open to everyone interested in learning more about the legislation.

“There has been some speculation and misinformation circulating regarding the potential impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill in West Virginia, especially on our local area. We want to make available clear and concise details regarding the bill’s benefits, in order to address some of the ‘scare tactics’ that are going around,” said Lisa Weese, chair of the Barbour County Republican Party.

Jason Huffman, West Virginia state director of Americans for Prosperity, will be the featured speaker. Huffman was born and raised in Buckhannon and is familiar with the local area. He worked for the West Virginia Senate and the West Virginia Republican Party prior to joining Americans for Prosperity, a grassroots organization that seeks to enact policies it says expand freedom and opportunity for Americans, including the recent West Virginia tax cut and the Hope Scholarship Program.

Huffman will explain how President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill not only secures permanent tax cuts but also shored up the national economy, helps to further secure the border, eliminates “Green New Deal” policies that organizers say are harmful to West Virginia, and advances other Trump campaign promises.

The forum will begin with Huffman’s analysis of the One Big Beautiful Bill and how it benefits West Virginia citizens, followed by a question-and-answer session. There will also be light refreshments and fellowship after the presentation.
