The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 2,521 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 152 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (32), Barbour (10), Lewis (8), Randolph (154) and Webster (5) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of one active case in the last 24 hours.
Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR – a 56-year old male from Barbour County and a 68-year old female from Raleigh County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of June 17, 2021, there have been 2,960,825 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 163,382 total cases and 2,863 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 1.39%.
A total of 789,357 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 44% of the state.
