B-U’s Linger to participate in Regional All-Star softball tournament

TENNERTON – Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc senior infielder Katarah Linger has been named to the roster for 2023 West Virginia High School Regional All-Star Tournament.

Linger will play for the Region I team with the tournament games being played on June 8 at Buffalo High School.

Linger will be very familiar with her coaching staff at the all-star tournament as B-U head coach Levi Bender and his staff will oversee the Region I team.

During her senior year for the Lady Bucs, she played in 20 games and knocked in 11 runs while scoring 10 with one double and two stolen bases.

“Katarah has been an outstanding athlete to work with over the years,” remarked Bender. “She is quiet and focused always gives her best. She is one of the most trustworthy people we have had on our teams on and off the field. Defensively she has made huge strides especially this season posting above a .900 fielding percentage as a middle infielder. She joins a very select few who have participated in this event for Buckhannon-Upshur.”

Bender and his staff will coach the Region I team for the second straight year.

“Our coaching staff is honored and excited to be invited to be a part of such an amazing event where we get to highlight and work with some of the best senior athletes in our state,” said Bender. “We are especially happy to have one more game with Kat.”

Linger and her Region I teammates will face Region III at 10 a.m. while Region II and IV will play at noon. The consolation game will be played at 2:30 p.m. and the championship contest is slated for 4:30 p.m.
