B-U COVID-19 Task Force announces availability of disposable masks for residents, businesses

BUCKHANNON – The Upshur County Commission placed an order for 3,000 disposable surgical masks utilizing the COVID-19 Block Grant Funds from the Governor’s Office.

The Upshur-Buckhannon Health Department, located at 15 North Locust Street in Buckhannon, will serve as the distribution center. The health department’s hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.

The masks will be made available at the health department beginning Monday, May 11. Due to available quantities, masks will be limited to one per family member or 10 per business daily. Distribution will continue while supplies last.

Remember to practice social distancing while at the health department for pick up. Please send one person per family to retrieve the masks.

The order follows up on the Buckhannon-Upshur COVID-19 Community Task Force’s discussions last week of how to support Upshur County and Buckhannon’s efforts to gradually re-open consistently with the West Virginia Strong-The Comeback plan.
