Augusta Pearl Allender

Augusta Pearl Allender, 93, of the Lick Run community, Buckhannon, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2020, at the Crestview Manor in Jane Lew. 

Gus or “Gussie” as she was fondly known was born on April 10, 1927, a daughter of the late Ira and Madge Lewis Harman.  On September 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Carey Allender, who preceded her in death on December 27, 2015.  

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Shelia on March 1, 1953; three brothers:  Deward, Dwayne, and Loy Harman; one sister Constance Harman; and two brothers-in-law:  Oliver Cornell and Troy Wentz.

She is survived by one daughter Pamela Allender; four sisters:  Avandelene Cornell, Luella and husband Maynard Hanifan, Teddy Wentz, and Diane and husband Glenn Payne; one brother Gary Harman and wife Susan; and several nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.

Gus worked previously as a dietician at Crestview Manor of Ohio.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the following for being there for Gus in her time of need:  Katie, Debbie, Becky, Pat, Kitty, and Jo.  A special thank you to Hospice and Crestview Manor for their wonderful care during this difficult time.

In honoring her wishes, Gus will be cremated and laid to rest with her husband Carey and daughter Shelia at Indian Camp Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
