Another Randolph County resident dies from COVID-19, DHHR says

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 18,177 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 513 since the last report.

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (347), Barbour (296), Lewis (148), Randolph (349) and Webster (60) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of 15 active cases in the last 24 hours.

Eleven additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 69-year old male from Randolph County, a 45-year old female from Fayette County, an 81-year old male from Cabell County, an 82-year old male from Putnam County, a 68-year old male from Cabell County, a 96-year old female from Braxton County, a 60-year old male from Kanawha County, a 51-year old male from Jefferson County, a 59-year old female from Preston County, a 72-year old female from Putnam County, and a 62-year old male from Wood County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of September 2, 2021, there have been 3,427,066 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 192,788 total cases and 3,117 deaths,” according to a press release.

The daily percent positive was 9.59%.

A total of 914,136 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.  That’s about 51% of the state.
