Adelene Price, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, August 16, 2025, at her home.
She was born November 11, 1937, in Uniontown, KY, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Adeline Richardson Walker Shaffer.
On October 20, 1954, she married Dorris Wayne Price who survives.
She is also survived by one son, Michael Allen Price of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Eric Lee and wife Kayley of Morgantown, WV, Cara Dawn Hewitt and husband Michael of Buckhannon and Matthew Allen Leigh of Queensland, MD; seven great grandchildren, Emma Lee of Morgantown, Jack Lee of Ohio, Cohen Lee of Morgantown, Caila Linger and Tori Hewitt both of Buckhannon, Sebastian Leigh and wife Ariana of Virginia, and Miles Lee of Morgantown; one great-great granddaughter, Karina Gayle McCardle of Buckhannon; one great-great grandson, Kia Edward McCardle of Buckhannon; one brother-in-law, Bill McGrew of Texas and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Wayne Price; one daughter, Deborah Price Leigh; ten siblings, Naomi Ruth McGrew, Annie Susan Bebout, Connie Woodby, Kathleen Shaffer, Bessie Alice Shaffer, (twin sister) Evelene Waggoner, and Bennie, J. C., Aaron Houston, and Franklin Junior Shaffer.
Mrs. Price was a member of First Baptist Church of Buckhannon and held several offices there. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was deeply involved with her family and friends; she was the President of American Baptist Women’s Ministries in Buckhannon and Broad Run Association and was the local President of Church Women United.
Mrs. Price loved to crochet and won several Blue Ribbons and once won Best of Show at the Strawberry Festival. She was the owner and operator of Adelene’s Dress Shop in Buckhannon.
Friends will be received Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
