Elizabeth Dawn (Lisa) Simmons

Elizabeth Dawn (Lisa) Simmons, 51, of the Frenchton Community, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her home.

She was born on May 10, 1969, a daughter of the late Raymond Glen and Sally Jean Woods Ware.

On August 20, 1988, she was united in marriage to Kevin Lee Simmons, who survives.  Also surviving are one grandson Braxton Tyler Simmons of Philippi; three sisters:  Cindy Ware of Buckhannon, Kris Ware of Bridgeport, and Sandy Lockwood and significant other John Taylor of Flatwoods; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, and the many neighborhood kids to whom she was a second mom.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons:  Tyler G. “Ty” Simmons and Joshua Franklin “Josh” Simmons; and one brother Steve Ware.

Lisa was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers football teams and enjoyed watching westerns on television.  She loved spending time with her family and friends camping, cooking out, and vacationing at the ocean.  Most of all, she was a devoted grandmother to Braxton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 4-8 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel.  The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at 1 p.m., at the funeral chapel with Pastor Terry Gower officiating.  Interment will follow in the Beechtown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral chapel to assist with funeral expenses.
