BUCKHANNON, W.Va. —  St. Joseph’s Hospital is recognizing National Radiological Technology week Nov. 8 through Nov. 14.

National Radiologic Technology Week is observed annually to recognize the vital work of imaging professionals across the nation. The celebration takes place each November to commemorate the anniversary of the X-ray’s discovery by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on Nov. 8, 1895.

Radiology technicians produce clear and accurate images of the body, enabling physicians to diagnose and treat medical conditions that would otherwise be difficult to document. Technicians operate sophisticated equipment that includes X-ray, mammography, computerized axial tomography (CAT) and positron emission tomography (PET) scan devices. By guiding patients through each step of their medical imaging procedures, these specialists ensure the production of high quality images.

“All of the Technologists here at St. Joseph’s Hospital definitely deserve the recognition for the excellent patient care and professionalism they bring to our facility,” said Tom Nestor, Director of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging.  “It is truly an honor to work in a department with individuals that put forth so much effort into making our patients and physicians know that service, quality, and safety are our priority.”
