Marvin Dale “Barty” McCauley

Marvin Dale “Barty” McCauley, 83, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Friday, July 31, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born December 21, 1936, in Braxton County, W.Va. a son of the late Warren McCauley and Iva Riffle McCauley. On November 26, 1960, he married Charlotte Steele who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Patricia Burns and husband Barry of Surry, Va.; one son, Gary McCauley of Seoul, South Korea; three sisters, Peggy Nicholson and husband Don of Copen, W.Va. and Bonnie Starkey and Robin Phillips and husband Benny all of Buckhannon; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Nicholson and wife Melissa of Copen; one special niece, Amanda King and husband Rick of Copen; one special nephew, Richard Nicholson of Copen; two great-nieces, Erin and Mackenzie King both of Copen and one great-nephew Ryan King of Copen.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Scott McCauley; three sisters, Delpha Dean, Rosalie Grayam and Donna Skinner and one brother, Maynard McCauley.

Mr. McCauley was a Machine Operator for Moore Business Forms and a charter member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Frank B. Bartlette Post 7 American Legion. He was also a member of the Emergency Squad in Buckhannon and a member of the Moore Athletic Association.

Friends will be received Tuesday, August 4, 2020, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Bealle officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the graveside.
