The Free Annual Community Christmas Banquet is back

Coordinators for the Free Annual Community Christmas Banquet are finalizing details for the event. Christmas dinner will be served from 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. in Engle Hall at Chapel Hill UM Church on Kanawha Street in Buckhannon. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m. The dinner will feature “waited table service” and we are offering a menu of Oven Baked Ham, Herb Roasted Chicken Breast, and other delicious items, as well as dessert, coffee and iced tea.

Do you have a desire to become involved? Volunteers are needed, whether it is cooking, serving, washing dishes, or delivering food. All volunteers should be able to stay on their feet and work in a busy dining area and/or kitchen. Volunteers must call in advance to sign up and will be pre-assigned to a position.

Not able to volunteer but want to be contribute to the event? Your tax-deductible donation will help provide a delicious meal. Contributions can be made payable to the Upshur Parish House and mailed to 68 College Avenue, Buckhannon, WV  26201.  Please note on the check, “2019 Christmas Dinner”.

The Parish House offers dinners for delivery in Upshur County for people who are not able to dine at the church. Deliveries will begin at approximately 11:00 a.m., depending on the location and number of drivers. Due to weather and road conditions we may not be able to deliver to all locations.  “Take outs” are also available.

We are also requesting donations of homemade desserts. Desserts will be accepted at Chapel Hill Church on Christmas day before 10 a.m. Please use a container that will not be returned and clearly label  all desserts with your name, phone number, and type of dessert. We also need sugar-free and gluten free desserts.

You may call 304-472-4465 to leave a detailed message. To volunteer, or to request meal delivery or take-out, call between December 15th and December 23rd. Please note that all calls to the Parish House will be directed to this number, after which a volunteer will return your call.

This is a special time of year for many people, so plan to come and be a part of this joyous occasion—whether you volunteer to serve, fellowship with neighbors, and of course, enjoy a delicious meal. The doors are open to all our neighbors! Merry Christmas!
