BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The Clothes Closet, a part of the Upshur Parish House located at 47 Sedgwick Street in Buckhannon, announces that it is currently accepting donations only on a limited basis. This notice is shared at the present time due to the upcoming community-wide yard sale on August 2 and 3.

The Clothes Closet deeply appreciates all clean, usable donations that are received. Sales in the retail store total over $30,000 so far for 2019.  This ministry and mission program is fortunate to provide clothing, household items, books and other goods at an exceptionally reduced rate because area churches and individuals give those items free of charge.  Families in need also receive free clothing vouchers up to four times per year.

Staff and volunteers of the Clothes Closet carefully sort all donations.  Items that cannot be sold at the Clothes Closet are forwarded on to similar sites in other areas, and in some cases, unusable items must be disposed of and the Clothes Closet then must pay additional refuse charges.

Due to medical leave of an employee and the increased volume of donations following the annual county yard sale, the Clothes Closet can only accept donations during regular business hours, which are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.  All donations can be delivered to the back porch during those times.  The Clothes Closet is currently unable to accept donations at other times.  Normal donation collection will resume September 1.

The staff and volunteers of the Clothes Closet appreciate the many donations received throughout the year and apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary change may cause.
