BUCKHANNON — The newly formed Upshur County Kiwanis Club is collecting gently used sports equipment for youth in need in the Buckhannon-Upshur community.

This drop-off box is located inside Stockert Youth & Community Center. Donations of lightly or gently used sports equipment of all sorts are welcome. Equipment will be disseminated through other volunteer groups and/or agencies.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Kiwanis Club, which is focusing their primary energies on helping youth, please contact president Robert Kincaid at 304-642-8175 or robertkincaid@frontier.com for information about joining. Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School fielded three complete teams at the Forest Festival Jack and Jill Relay Invitational, with its A-Team placing third out of 23 in 39:34.60. Felix Stump ran the meet’s third-fastest leg, while the B- and C-Teams finished eighth and 14th.

Buckhannon-Upshur rolls through Grafton, RCB to cap perfect week

Buckhannon-Upshur swept Grafton and Robert C. Byrd in straight sets Thursday, capping a perfect 3-0 week and improving to 15-8. Cora Cottrill led the charge with 14 kills and four blocks against RCB as the Lady Bucs continued their midseason surge.
