Kenneth Allen Heater

Kenneth Allen Heater, 76, of Buckhannon, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

He was born in Buckhannon on March 4, 1950, a son of the late Luther Martin Heater Jr. and Dortha Jean Potts Heater. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by step-granddaughter-in-law, Amy Petrik.

Forever cherishing their memories of Kenneth are the love of his life for fifty-three years, Beulah Evelin Garvin Heater; two stepchildren: Don Skidmore and wife, Denise, of Nutter Fort and Veronica Crites and husband, Kevin, of Buckhannon; four step-grandchildren: Jeremy Crites, Alison Hopper and husband, Ben, Alexander Skidmore and wife, Anna Chittam, and Jenna Kelley and husband, Jason; three step-great-granddaughters: Lucy, Lillian, and Lydia; two siblings: Connie Heater Everett and husband, Dean, and Martin Scott Heater; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Kenneth was a steadfast man who found joy in the simplicity of life. He was a loving and devoted husband.

His love for his family was only rivaled by his love for the Lord, being a faithful member of the Good Hope Tabernacle and a devout Christian. He believed in the words of the Bible, “Let all that you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14), and he lived this verse every day, especially in the gentle care he took of his wife.

Kenneth found immense pleasure in keeping his yard neat and mowed, an extension of his meticulous nature that also reflected in his professional life. Kenneth was a heavy equipment operator by trade, working in the coal industry. His dedication and hard work contributed significantly to his employment at the ICG Coal Company and Heater Trucking.

Kenneth was more than his profession; he was a man of immense character, strength, and kindness. His hobbies, such as spending time with his great-granddaughters who called him “Pappy Ken,” showcased his tender side, a testament to his nurturing spirit and warm heart.

Kenneth’s request for cremation has been honored by Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon. A private Celebration of Life has taken place.
