West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon placed fourth for best value among Southern regional colleges in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
Wesleyan said it was the only West Virginia regional college on that best-value list, which weighs academic quality and attendance costs.
In the guide’s broader Regional Colleges in the South category, Wesleyan shared the No. 16 spot. It placed No. 14 in the category for private schools in that region.
U.S. News also included Wesleyan on its social mobility list for Southern regional colleges. That measure focuses on Pell Grant indicators to assess enrollment and graduation of students with financial disadvantages.
The college said it was one of four West Virginia schools chosen for The Princeton Review’s 2027 regional selections, with Wesleyan appearing in the Mid-Atlantic group.
For families weighing college costs, Wesleyan’s Tuition Lock Guarantee fixes tuition for four years for students entering in fall 2027. Students already enrolled in fall 2026 have a tuition freeze through graduation.
“As families increasingly look at both the quality and cost of a college education, we are committed to ensuring that Wesleyan remains affordable, attainable, and predictable for the students we serve,” President James Moore said.
Wesleyan said its expanded aid includes larger academic scholarships and programs that may pay tuition for West Virginia PROMISE Scholarship recipients and students eligible for Pell Grants. The Home Among the Hills program can cover full tuition for high-achieving West Virginia students with exceptional financial need. Eligible students from outside West Virginia can get additional scholarship aid through the Access Advantage Program.
