Terry Lee Higgins, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, August 21, 2026, at WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins, WV. He was born May 11, 1948, in Randolph County, WV, a son of the late Warren Wadsworth and Thelma Ellen Canfield Higgins.
On July 11, 1992, he married Donna Jean Arbogast Tenney, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his former wife, Pearl “Ace” Higgins of Buckhannon; two daughters, Dawn Swiger and husband Kevin of Zebulon, NC, and Kelli Ervin and husband Terry of French Creek, WV; one son, Terry Lee Higgins II and wife Beckie of Martinsburg, WV; two stepsons, Dayton Tenney and wife Lynn and Bryan Tenney, all of Tallmansville, WV; five grandchildren, Madison and Nolan Swiger, Cheyenne and Emma Higgins, and Terry Lee “Trey” Higgins III; three brothers, Steve Higgins and wife Brenda, Larry Higgins, and Randy Higgins and wife Nancy, all of New Martinsville, WV; three sisters, Cheryl Morgan of Martinsburg, Pam Anderson of Blue Ash, OH, and Virgie Sarver and husband Larry of Buckhannon, WV; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Rose Maria.
Mr. Higgins was an electrician for the coal mines as well as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family and animals—especially his poodles and horses. He enjoyed showing horses and was the former president of Four Beats in Pleasure Club.
Friends will be received Friday, August 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Justin Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Buckhannon.
