WVU Medicine Children’s and WVRC Media Cares for Kids Radiothon sets new fundraising record

The WVU Medicine Children’s and WVRC Media Cares for Kids Radiothon set a new fundraising record, raising $224,208 from community donors during Aug. 21–22 broadcasts to support the greatest needs of WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.
Each year, WVU Medicine Children’s and WVRC Media partner for the WVRC Media Cares for Kids Radiothon to benefit patients and families in need.

The WVU Medicine Children’s and WVRC Media Cares for Kids Radiothon broke the fundraising record it set in 2024.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, the event raised $224,208 for the greatest needs of WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.

“This year’s record-breaking Radiothon is a testament to the unwavering generosity of our community and partnership we share with WVRC Media,” Marisa Sayre, executive director of development, marketing and communications for WVU Medicine Children’s, said. “We are deeply grateful to every listener and donor who made this milestone possible. Together we are creating healthier futures for our kids.”

On Aug. 21 and 22, nine radio stations broadcast live in the Hostetler Family Resource Center, located on the tenth floor of WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.

Listeners heard from families whose lives were impacted by WVU Medicine Children’s, and providers and staff shared how they work to create healthier futures for our kids and expectant mothers.

“On behalf of all of us at WVRC Media, we’d like to thank all our sponsors and the wonderful people of West Virginia who joined together to support the Radiothon,” George Pelletier, President and CEO of WVRC Media, said. “Their commitments will go a long way to assisting the families and the patients who utilize WVU Medicine Children’s.”

More than 30 radio stations across the state and region were able to participate in Radiothon and spread the mission of WVU Medicine Children’s to their communities.

All donations help make sure that children continue to have access to high quality care and comfort while being treated at the hospital.
