BUCKHANNON, W.Va. ––  Cheers to 25 Years isn’t just an anniversary slogan for Upshur County Relay for Life. This year’s theme celebrates the work volunteers have done in the community to raise funds for cancer research and programs and our cancer survivors – who are our Very Important Persons in Relay.

Join Upshur County Relay for Life on Saturday, July 16  in Jawbone Park for the 25th Upshur County Relay for Life. Survivors should check-in beginning at 6 p.m. at the Survivor Tent for a catered meal. Relay will begin at 6:30 p.m. as chair Robin Oldaker welcomes those in attendance.

“We are so excited that after two years of modified Relay events, we can celebrate our 25th year with a normal Relay,” Oldaker said. “We are celebrating 25 years of unbelievable community support and 25 years of seeing cancer survivor rates increase.”

Upshur County Relay for Life has raised more than $2 million for the American Cancer Society. One of the founders and long-time committee members Crystal Shaw will be speaking and sharing her story of her involvement in Upshur County Relay for Life.  All past Relay chairs are invited to attend.

Throughout the evening, there will be music by the Brass, Rythym and Sax Orchestra, games, raffles and more. Many teams will be selling food at their campsites. Teams will be walking around Jawbone throughout the night to keep the Relay going. The event will conclude following the meaningful luminaria service and a special bell service at approximately 10:15 p.m.
