Light snow expected overnight into Monday morning

With flakes already starting to fall Sunday evening, Upshur County could receive a few inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service office in Charleston.

While most of the snow is expected to accumulate in the northern parts of the state, 2-3 inches are possible locally.

“Light snowfall is expected later today and tonight, with accumulations up to 3 inches,” the NWS said in a hazardous weather outlook. “Another round of light snow is possible later Monday into Tuesday.”

Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-teens Sunday night, before warming to just above freezing on Monday. The ‘warmer’ air will remain through Tuesday, but single-digit temps are expected to return Tuesday night. The high Wednesday is 22 degrees, with a low of just three above zero.
