Soccer Lady ‘Cats lose 2-0 road contest to Yellow Jackets

INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (6-7-2, 6-6-1) women’s soccer team fell on the road at West Virginia State (10-4-1, 8-3-1) by a final score of 2-0 on Wednesday at Lakin-Ray Field at Dickerson Stadium.
 
Wesleyan controlled the pace of the game by firing seven shots in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets flipped the momentum in the 42nd minute when Cierra Savin scored off of a rebound to put WVSU up 1-0 at halftime.
 
The Yellow Jackets doubled their lead in the 55th minute on a Brooklyn Pritt shot that found the back of the net from the right side.

WVWC ripped off a total of five more shots on goal in the remaining 35 minutes, but Laura Galindo made eight saves for the West Virginia State clean sheet.

Wesleyan outshot WVSU by a 19-10 margin.
 
The Lady Bobcats will return home to Culpepper Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m.
