BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Tiara Stokes, a member of the West Virginia Wesleyan acrobatics & tumbling team, was recognized by the Mountain East Conference as MEC Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Stokes, a graduate student from Charleston, W.Va., was named athlete of the week after the Lady Bobcats defeated Glenville State last week 244.715-210.990. Stokes was on the floor for the Lady Bobcats in every event that WVWC scored higher than a nine.
In the Compulsory event, Stokes played the role of a base and helped the squad earn 9.5 and 9.2 in the final two heats of the event. Stokes was a member of the 5 Element team that scored a 9.55. In the 6 Element event, Stokes helped the Lady ‘Cats earn a score of 9.45. Stokes played a key role as a base in the acro event.
In the Pyramid event, Stokes was a tosser and helped the team post scores of 9.45 and 9.3 in the first two heats. Stokes backed the tosses and supported the heat 1 performance for a score of 9.35. In the team event, Stokes was a base, back and tosser. She was a key member of the team that scored an 87.89 in the final event of the meet.
