BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Kayla Wade, a member of the West Virginia Wesleyan acrobatics & tumbling team, was recognized by the Mountain East Conference as MEC Athlete of the Week.
 
Wade, a fifth-year senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., was named athlete of the week after the Lady Bobcats defeated Alderson Broaddus on Sunday (March 6) 260.015-146.675. Wade was a major contributor in helping the ‘Cats break a program record in total points at Sunday’s meet.
 
In the Compulsory event, the Lady Bobcats scored above a 9.0 in all three heats. Wade served as a base in the compulsory pyramid event and a mid in the compulsory toss event. Wade was an integral part of the pyramid teams that scored above a 9.5 in three heats. In the third heat of the Acro event, Wade executed the role of base and helped her team score an 8.8.
 
In the toss event, Wade helped deliver a score of 9.7 in heat one as a base and 9.05 in the synch toss. To conclude the meet, Wade helped the Lady Bobcats record their highest team event score of the season (89.74).
