BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan competitive dance team earned a bid to the National Dance Alliance College Cheer and Dance National Championships.
The WVWC Bobcat competitive dance team participated in a National Dance Alliance home camp here on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College and learned material from an NDA staff Instructor in order to receive a bid qualification to the College National Championships. The team not only received a Bid to the NDA College Cheer and Dance National Championships, but they received a superior rating, the highest rating offered based on showcasing the trifecta of technique, memory and showmanship.
The dancers had to fully participate in classes over the weekend, learning two other routines on top of the team performance piece it was evaluated on, and also show a constant display of positive work ethic, teamwork, leadership and spirit. The NDA Championships is the largest Collegiate Cheer and Dance National competition in the world.
Team captains, Kylie McMillin and Haylee Shires received Outstanding Technique awards at the camp.
The Bobcat dancers will now begin the work on learning choreography for the routines they will compete in at the National Championships. The NDA Collegiate Nationals event is held April 6-10 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
