WVWC acro & tumbling team sweep home tri-match

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan (5-2) acrobatics & tumbling team defeated Stevenson and Davis & Elkins in a tri-meet on Monday night in Rockefeller Center.
 
How It Happened
The Lady Bobcats began the meet strong, scoring over 9.00 points in the first three events of the compulsory event. WVWC totaled 35.40 out of 40.00 possible points to start the night. 
 
In the Acro event, the Lady Bobcats scored a 9.45, a 9.60 and a 9.20 in the respective three events and won the event with a score of 28.25. Seniors Emily Dengel and Tiara Stokes joined Kayla Gandy in scoring the 9.45 in the 5 element event. Gandy and Caitlin Josef were paired with senior class members Joniah Howell and Stokes in the 6 element that racked up a 9.60. Fifth-year senior Kayla Wade led the 7 element team of Sydney McKinnon, Alejandra Ditchen, Megan Miles and RayAnn Nadolski with a total of 9.20.
 
The Lady Bobcats won the pyramid event, the final event of the first half with a score of 28.20. The inversion pyramid team of Talia Cooper, Gandy, Howell, Abigail Bowe, Dengel, Miles, Stokes and McKinnon amassed a mark of 9.70. The synchronized pyramid team followed up with a score of 9.50. The open pyramid team wrapped up the strong showing in the pyramid event with a 9.00. WVWC held a lead at halftime.
 
The 450 salto team of Ditchen, Miles, Wade, Stokes, McKinnon and Josef turned in a score of 9.00 to begin the second half. Bowe, Howell, Dengel, Nadolski, Rebekah White and Kelsey Allen accumulated 9.05 points out of 9.40 in the open toss event. WVWC took the toss event with a score of 26.20.
 
Gandy and Ditchen kicked off the tumbling event with a score of 8.000 in the duo pass. Howell completed the 6 element pass with a score of 8.375. Ditchen completed the open pass with a mark of 8.850 out of a 9.10 start value.
 
The Lady Bobcats won the team event 83.96-79.29 over the Senators. Stevenson did not compete in the team event. WVWC won the tri-meet and cruised over D&E and Stevenson.
