BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is recognizing their Auxilians during Volunteer Month in April.
The Auxiliary of St. Joseph’s Hospital is an organization that provides volunteers to serve patients, visitors, and Hospital employees. They are also dedicated to helping provide healthcare workers to the community by offering scholarships to students in the area who are pursuing a healthcare career in West Virginia. In addition, they help in assisting the Hospital in the purchase of necessary equipment through various sales throughout the year.
The St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxilians are people of all ages who offer their time and energy in the service of others; touch the lives of those they assist; are a critical part of the Hospital’s Care Team; and feel personal satisfaction from contributing to the welfare of their community. They volunteer in several areas of the hospital including the gift shop, information desk (registration), and nursing care facility, as well as participating in the cheer cart, where they travel around to the patient rooms and waiting rooms delivering magazines and other free gifts. They also help with any special projects, which include stuffing mailers, linen packs, or assisting in Hospital events.
If you would like to be a part of this dedicated group of volunteers, you can contact Patty McComas, president of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, at 304-472-7941.
