WVU Athletics Extends Multimedia Rights Agreement with Learfield IMG College

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced today it will continue to work with Learfield IMG College for multimedia rights representation.

“Our new agreement with Learfield IMG College is important to us in many ways and extends what has been a productive and positive partnership with an industry leader in intercollegiate athletics,” WVU Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons said. “I would like to thank Greg Brown, Mike Hamilton, Joe Potter and Todd Knisley from Learfield IMG College; Matt Wells from my staff and all involved for their patience and willingness to get this done. I look forward to a continued great working relationship.”

The extended relationship is worth more than $125 million over 16 years and will run through the 2034-35 season. With six years remaining on the original contract, the revised deal adds 10 additional years to the partnership and is worth an average annual value of $7.8 million over the life of the agreement. It also includes funds for important capital improvements to the WVU Coliseum and Milan Puskar Stadium.

“The original contract had options for a 10-year renewal so in totality the number of years left (16) will not be any different,” Lyons added. “However, with their willingness to look at the changing landscape of college athletics, our relationship with Learfield IMG College will help us remain a viable Power 5 institution.”
