WVDNR to sponsor 36th annual West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show

CHARLESTON, WV — Gov. Jim Justice announced today that the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is sponsoring the 36th annual West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show in Charleston, where the agency will take orders for its new physical hunting and fishing license cards. The event will take place at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Jan. 19-21.

“As a lifelong hunter and angler, I am very excited to announce the return of this event where hunters and anglers from all walks of life can come together and enjoy the things that so many of us know and love,” said Gov. Justice. “I want to encourage everyone to come out and take part in this event and all the fantastic activities and announcements planned for this weekend.”

Gov. Justice will open the show on Friday, Jan. 19, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Special activities during the three-day event include a whitetail hall of fame, charity auction, youth outdoor challenge, outdoor apparel fashion show and a kid’s coloring contest with random drawings for a Cabela’s gift card. Tickets for adults 13 and up are $12, and kids 12 and under get in for free.

“With more than 200 exhibitors and vendors from all over the world and some exciting hunting and fishing seminars and activities, the West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show has something for every outdoor enthusiast to enjoy,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “Our goal in sponsoring this incredible event is to help promote our state’s outdoor traditions and help bring hunters, trappers and anglers into contact with organizations that can provide them with goods and services they need to enjoy their sport.”

In addition to sponsoring the event, the WVDNR will also take orders for the newly released collectible license cards, which give hunters, trappers and anglers the option to carry a physical license. Physical license cards are available as an optional upgrade for $8 per card. Proceeds support conservation awareness campaigns for the state’s fish and wildlife resources.

West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show Schedule
The show will be open Friday, Jan. 19 from 12-9 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show is hosted by West Virginia Trophy Hunters Association, a non-profit group dedicated to wildlife conservation, education and promoting hunting and hunter rights. Since 1995, the group has donated more than $1.25 million to these causes. The WVTHA also sponsors a 600-acre Wildlife Study Project in Wirt County, W.Va., having raised over $700,000 for this initiative.
