Wreck on Old Elkins Road sends one person to hospital with injuries Friday

BUCKHANNON – One person suffered non-incapacitating injuries in a single-vehicle wreck on the Old Elkins Road Friday.

According to investigating officer Upshur County Sheriff’s chief deputy Mike Coffman, Elva G. Riffle, 63, of Buckhannon, had been traveling eastbound on Route 151, the Old Elkins Road at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, April 8 when she lost control of the Ford Fusion she was driving.

Riffle’s vehicle ran off the right side of the road before traveling about 150 feet over an embankment just before the Daysville Shortcut Road.

Riffle, the vehicle’s only occupant, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Coffman said Saturday.

In addition to the sheriff’s department and Upshur EMS, the Buckhannon Fire Department and Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. No charges have been filed.
