A car traveling on Route 20 near the old armory drove off the side of the road and hit a power pole head-on, snapping the one pole and causing others to lean over the road.

Emergency personnel closed the road and were diverting traffic from the area roughly encompassing GoMart to Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School.

The wreck was the second in that area Monday, with another driver hitting some signs near GoMart earlier in the day in a minor incident.

While crews were on scene at the Monday evening wreck, a second car reportedly drove into a power pole near the River Walk at West Virginia Wesleyan College just before 8 p.m.
