West Virginia reports 277 new COVID-19 cases Monday, one death

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 277 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, just one new case was reported in Randolph County.

A total of 40 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 42-year old female from Fayette County. 

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 5, 2021, there have been 2,492,013 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 143,733 total cases and 2,696 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 6,955 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 134,082 people have recovered and 2,696 have died. The daily percent positive was 6.53%.

A total of 353,473 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
