West Virginia reports 194 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, no increase in Upshur County

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Sunday that 194 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 70-year old male from Cabell County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., October 25, 2020, there have been 721,868 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 21,906 total cases and 423 deaths,” according to a press release.

In Upshur County, the DHHR report on Sunday removed a probable case from Oct. 21 and added a probable case to Oct. 24, for no net change in total cases. A total of 46 cases remain active, also unchanged from Saturday.

Upshur County remains green on the daily alert map and schools will be able to reopen for students on Monday for the first time in four weeks.

Barbour and Randolph counties also reported no increase in their case totals on Sunday, while Lewis County had two new cases.

New cases were reported Sunday in Berkeley, Boone, Braxton, Brooke, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Grant, Greenbrier, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Nicholas, Ohio, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane, Summers, Tucker, Tyler, Wayne, Webster, Wetzel, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming counties.

About 4,829 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 16,654 people have recovered and 423 have died. The daily percent positive was 1.9%.
