Wesleyan Receives $80,000 Grant from the Maier Foundation for Summer International Study

Buckhannon, WV—West Virginia Wesleyan College has received a four-year grant totaling $80,000 to fund summer international study from the Maier Foundation. The grant is a continuation of support from the Foundation.

During the past four years, Wesleyan students have pursued international study through foundation support in Europe, Asia, and Africa. For many students, it is their first experience outside of the United States.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Maier Foundation for their funding,” said Dr. Tamara Bailey, assistant professor of history and coordinator of Wesleyan’s international study program. “These experiences are truly transformational and are critically important to expanding each participant’s education at Wesleyan. The learning outcomes and the stories they bring back to campus after pursing an international study experience inspire all of us.”

In addition to the Maier Foundation support, Wesleyan has several additional endowed scholarships for summer international study. For more information about these opportunities, contact Bailey at bailey_t@wvwc.edu
