BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Frostburg State and Notre Dame are the preseason favorites to win the 2022 Mountain East Conference women’s lacrosse championship, the league announced today after a vote of the league coaches. The Bobcats and Falcons finished atop the poll with 23 points with each team garnering three first-place votes.
Frostburg State welcomes back eight players who earned all-conference honors last spring, including first-team selections Stephanie King, Anna Kearney, and Mackenzie Cramer.
Notre Dame is coming off a program-record 12 wins last season and took home the MEC Tournament title. The Falcons bring back four of their top six goal scorers from last season and seven players who earned All-MEC honors a season ago.
Davis & Elkins was picked third in the poll with 15 points. Charleston was next with 14 points, with Alderson Broaddus (10) and West Virginia Wesleyan (5) rounding out the poll.
