Want to snag a spot on West Virginia’s Largest Yard Sale map? Submit your information to the CVB by Friday

BUCKHANNON – Merchants hoping to be on the official West Virginia’s Largest Yard Sale map have until Friday to submit their information.

Upshur County Convention and Visitors Bureau interim director Lacy Ramsey said she hopes to gather all the necessary addresses and information to create the official map listing yard-sale sellers and what they are selling by Friday evening and publish the map by Saturday, July 29, at noon.

The sale will take place throughout Buckhannon and Upshur County Aug. 4-5, and listed hours for the event are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“If I get any new sellers by late Friday afternoon, I can still get the information on the map, but if it’s beyond that, it can’t be on there,” Ramsey said.

People interested in submitting their information may click here to enter all the necessary information.

“Currently, we have 125 who have responded so far, and we were at 99 yesterday, so we have 125 as of right now, and we’ll see if that continues to grow or not,” Ramsey said. “I’ve had people calling from other states for months now, asking about this because they’re trying to plan a trip and their stay.”

Ramsey said she was surprised by how many people participated in the yard sale, including sellers and buyers.

“It was pretty eye-opening to see how many people wanted to be on the map and how many people were calling to ask when it was happening so they could be here,” Ramsey said. “We started off for a month with 33 registered, but within the past week, the numbers are starting to spike way faster than they were there at the beginning.”

There will also be sellers who aren’t registered on the official map, so it’s hard to tell how many purveyors are available at a time.

“There will be plenty of people who don’t even fool with the registration,” Ramsey said. “They just know their neighbors are doing it, and there’s going to be traffic, and they set up anyway, so there will be way more yard sales happening than what we’re seeing on this paper – I’m sure of it.”

“Either way, it’s a big turnout on both sides,” she added. “The map will have all the drop pins if you go on to Google Maps and click on each drop pin, it will tell you the street address, the information as far as whose yard sale it is, the items it will have, so it will still tell you everything about that yard sale when you click on the drop pin.”

Sellers or shoppers with questions may contact the Upshur County CVB at info@visitbuckhannon.com or call 304-473-1400.
