Volleyball Lady Bucs go 2-1-1 in own Spooktacular Tournament

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur volleyball team hosted their fourth annual Spooktacular Tournament this past Saturday at the high school.

The Lady Bucs made it out pool play with 2-0-1 record but lost in the first-round of the elimination bracket falling to Robert C. Byrd.

In pool play, the Lady Bucs battled Liberty to a 1-1 tie (25-21, 22-25) while beating Petersburg 2-0 (25-10, 25-9) and Notre Dame 2-0 (25-17, 25-6).

The fell to Robert C. Byrd in a pair of close sets, 25-21 and 27-25.

Shady Spring was the eventual champion, defeating Robert C. Byrd by a 2-0 score (25-8, 25-12).

The tournament featured the following teams, Buckhannon-Upshur, Shady Spring, Robert C. Byrd, Petersburg, Notre Dame, Liberty, Hampshire, John Marshal, Pendleton County and Lewis County.

The previous day, Buckhannon-Upshur hosted a junior varsity tournament that included the Lady Bucs, Berkeley Springs, Lewis County, Pendleton County, Philip Barbour and South Charleston.

Philip Barbour defeated Pendleton County for the junior varsity tournament.

The Lady Bucs were slated to meet University at home on Tuesday and will wrap up their regular season Thursday at home against East Fairmont.
