Twelve Vandalia Health hospitals were awarded in the Centers for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) 2024 Donate Life West Virginia Hospital Challenge Awards at Stonewall Resort.

Each year, hospitals participate in the Donate Life Hospital Challenge. This challenge is an initiative designed to encourage hospitals to increase awareness about organ and tissue donation and transplantation. During Donate Life Month in April, hospitals participate in and host a variety of activities to raise awareness, educate and more, earning points toward the challenge. The luncheon and awards ceremony is hosted by CORE each year to recognize these efforts.

CAMC General and Memorial Hospitals in Charleston received platinum awards, CAMC Teays Valley Hospital in Hurricane and CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston received Gold Awards. CAMC Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill received a Silver Award.

Davis Health System’s Broaddus Hospital in Philippi received a Gold Award, and Davis Medical Center in Elkins and Webster Memorial in Webster Springs received Platinum Awards.

“Vandalia Health is committed to patient-centered care, improving health care access and improving patient outcomes. As such, we are uniquely positioned to educate, advocate and champion organ donation across our health system and are proud to have been recognized for these efforts across the state,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Davis Health System – Vandalia Health North, and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health.

“Since we are an organ donor hospital with a nationally recognized kidney transplant program, it is important to us as a health system to educate the public, increase donor registrations and support donor families,” said Glenn Crotty, Jr., MD, President and CEO of CAMC and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “The awards are a testimony to the dedication of our incredible organ donation and transplant teams.”
