Upshur County Schools, ART26201 present fourth annual Youth Art Exhibition

BUCKHANNON — Upshur County Schools and ART26201 will present an art exhibition featuring artworks of students from all Upshur County Schools at the M.I.B. GALLERY in the Colonial Arts Center starting Friday, April 7, 2023, with a special opening reception from 4 to 8 p.m.

The annual fine art exhibition gives Upshur County School students the opportunity to participate in a
multi-school exhibition of their own artworks.

“Art is an inherently collaborative form, and we are so excited to work together with ART26201, the City of
Buckhannon, and Upshur County Schools to showcase some fantastic student pieces this year!” said Upshur County Schools Fine Arts Facilitator Jakob Spruce.

“The absolute breadth of talent that is growing within our students is beautiful, and we hope that this exhibit is just the first step in their lifelong artistic journey. My appreciation and thanks also extend to our dedicated fine arts teachers, as this exhibit would not be possible without their many hours of hard work.”

“We are so excited to exhibit Upshur County student artwork for another year, now at the nearly-finished
Colonial Arts Center,” said ART26201’s Vice President John Waltz. “These early opportunities may also be the seeds of a career in the arts and a life fulfilled with passion and creativity. As the Colonial Arts Center opens fully this summer, we see endless opportunities for artistic programming for students in our area.”

In addition to the opening event on April 7, the M.I.B. GALLERY will be open from 4-8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, and 12-2 p.m. on Sundays through the end of April.

All events at the M.I.B. GALLERY are free and open to the public. This exhibition is a collaboration of the
Upshur County Schools art teachers, ART26201, and the City of Buckhannon. If you would like to volunteer or receive more information, please contact Heidi Thompson, lead organizer for
the event and Fine Art Department Chair at Buckhannon-Upshur High School, at 304-266-4100, or email at hgthompson@k12.wv.us.
