Two Upshur residents arrested on drug-related charges after alleged Quality Inn incident

WESTON — Two Upshur County residents remained in jail Friday after being arrested on drug-related charges July 8 at the Quality Inn in Weston.

According to information from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Rebecca Day, 29, and Sheldon Harris, 24, both of Upshur County, were arrested Friday, July 8 following a drug complaint from the hotel. The Quality Inn is located at 2906 U.S. Highway 33 East in Weston.

Following the hotel’s complaint, the Mountain Lakes Drug and Violent Crime Unit, the West Virginia State Police and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant during which they allegedly found and seized cash, suspected heroin, suspected methamphetamine and “various items of drug paraphernalia,” according to information the sheriff’s office provided on Facebook and directly to My Buckhannon.

Day was charged with possession with intent to deliver, a felony, and is being held in the Central Regional Jail on a bail of $50,000 cash or surety. Harris was charged with simple possession of methamphetamine, a misdemeanor. Although his bail is not listed on the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facilities Authority website, he is also lodged in Central Regional Jail.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, a third person from Upshur County was arrested during the search on an unrelated warrant, but that individual’s name and other information were not immediately available.
