Tucker scores twice as Lady ‘Cats end season with 2-0 win over D&E

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (8-7-3, 8-6-2) women’s soccer team ended its season in a win column after taking a 2-0 decision over Davis & Elkins (7-10-0, 7-9-0) on Sunday at Culpepper Stadium.

The first half did not see many opportunities for either side.

In the 42nd minute, Tucker lured the D&E goalkeeper out of the net and dragged a shot off the bottom left post that ricocheted into the back of the net.

Wesleyan took the momentum and a 1-0 lead into halftime. 

Tucker scored her second goal of the game and eighth of the season on a long rocket that landed into the top left corner of the net for a 2-0 advantage during the 77th minute.

On the breakaway in the 80th minute, Mitchell fired a shot that barely missed high. 

Ally Moore made four saves in WVWC’s ninth clean sheet of the season.
