Tennis ‘Cats selected third in MEC preseason poll

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan men’s tennis has been slated to finish third in the Mountain East Conference. The Bobcats totaled 26 points in the vote.

Defending champion Charleston was selected to win the conference once again, balloting 36 points and six first-place votes. Fairmont State is picked to finish second with 28 points and one first-place vote. The Bobcats follow FSU, Davis & Elkins and West Liberty tied for fourth with 20 points each, West Virginia State (10) and Frostburg State (7) finished the poll.

Wesleyan ended the 2021-22 season (10-10) overall and (4-2) in conference matches, earning a spot in the MEC Tournament. In the postseason, the Bobcats would lose to Charleston, ending their season.

WVWC opens the season on February 3 in the capital city to face Charleston. The Bobcats home opener will be on March 13 against Salem.
