Tennerton Tots tees up to provide high quality childcare, individualized learning opportunities

TENNERTON – Focused on providing educational opportunities as well as a safe environment for children, a new daycare center will be making its way into the Buckhannon-Upshur community.

Soon, 570 Route 20 South Road in Buckhannon will be home to Tennerton Tots, a small child facility that will be serving infants to children ages 12 five days a week.

With years of experience in child care, having worked in two local centers and certified in multiple areas, owner Robin Bowser McDaniels said it’s always been a dream to open her own daycare facility.

“When somebody offered me this house in Tennerton, I thought ‘Wow, what a great location and what a great opportunity,’ so I jumped on it,” she said.

With the idea to host 12 children or less a day, McDaniels said she plans to not only provide top-notch care for the children, but also to foster individualized learning.

“I’m going to offer high quality childcare,” she said. “This is not going to be a place where people just drop of their kids and leave them. It’s going to be a place where they’re also going to be educated.”

Along with quality care, McDaniels said she’s going to focus on the fundamentals of childcare and early childhood education.

“Children aren’t just going to be educated, but they’re going to be educated developmentally on their level because we all know that children develop on their own timeline within a certain timeline,” she said, “and I think that’s very important to remember.”

To making the center more welcoming to children, McDaniels said she’s going to strive to provide a cozy, home-like atmosphere.

“I’m going to try to make it to where it’s developmentally appropriate, but also cozy and warm and inviting,” she added. “I want this to be a center where people want to bring their kids, not where they have to bring their kids.”

The center will be equipped with two to three employees – two full-time employees and one part-time employee.

There is no set date for the opening, but McDaniels said parents, guardians and other caretakers can expect the center to open soon.

For more information, folks can contact McDaniels at 304-997-9235.

Tennerton Tots’ hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
