ROCK CAVE – An Upshur County woman was found deceased in her vehicle Saturday, prompting West Virginia State Police to cancel a Silver Alert they had issued earlier in the week.

Sgt. J.A. Rich with the Buckhannon detachment of the WVSP said the WVSP issued a Silver Alert Thursday, Sept. 14, after Carolyn Gregory, 71, of Goshen, was reported missing.

The alert was canceled on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 16, when a private search party organized by Gregory’s family found Gregory in her car.

“My understanding is that she had run off the road and over a hillside,” Rich said.

Gregory ran off the Wolfgang Run Road near Kanawha Head, south of Rock Cave. No foul play is suspected, according to police.

When asked if the wreck was related to a medical condition, Rich said he couldn’t provide any information. A full report has not yet been completed.
