BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — St. Joseph’s Hospital is celebrating Pastoral Care Week October 25 through October 31.  This nationally-recognized week provides the opportunity to recognize the spiritual caregivers and the ministry which the caregivers provide for our patients and the community.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Collaborative Healthcare, Chaplains Complete the Mission.”

Sister Francesca Lowis, Vice President of Mission Integration and Chaplain Barry Moll comprise the Pastoral Care Team for the hospital.  In addition to meeting with patients who request spiritual care, they also provide a non-denominational prayer service each Wednesday in the hospital’s chapel.  During the pandemic, the service is now offered virtually.

“At St. Joseph’s Hospital, we strive to heal the mind through education, the body through our excellent medical care and the spirit through our spiritual care,” said Skip Gjolberg, President of St. Joseph’s Hospital.  “We extend a sincere thanks to our Pastoral Care Team for providing spiritual guidance for our patients, our staff and our community.  Their presence and commitment ensure that our mission of ‘providing our community with quality healthcare in ways which respect the God-given dignity of each person and the sacredness of human life‘ is fulfilled every day.”
