St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary presents scholarships

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary has awarded four $750 scholarships to Buckhannon students who are pursuing careers in a medical field.

Receiving the scholarships were:  Brianna Burnette who will be in the nursing program at Davis and Elkins College;  Sydney Maxwell who will be in the nursing program at West Virginia Wesleyan College; Abigail Rickman who attended Pierpont Community and Technical College and is pursuing a career as a diagnostic sonographer at United Hospital Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital; and Samuel Walker, who will be attending West Virginia Wesleyan College to pursue a career as a physical therapist.

The St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary awards scholarships each year to Upshur County students who are beginning or have already begun their studies in a health-related field.  Students must have a GPA of 3.5 and demonstrate excellence in character, academics and leadership.
