Splashers split home dual swim meet with Bridgeport Swim Team

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon Swim Club Splashers split a home dual meet with the Bridgeport Swim Team last Thursday.

The girls won a 169-157 decision while the boys lost a 221-103 verdict.

The girls won 16 events while the boys claimed 13 events.

The girls won 12 individual events and four relay races.

Getting the wins in U8 were Tori Wilsoncroft in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter medley relay team of Hannah Davis, Charli Hall, Wilsoncroft and August Richards; getting victories in 9-10 age group were Berkley Jeran in the 50-meter freestyle and the 25-meter freestyle and the foursome of Brylee Tenney, Naomi Hibbs, Emberlee Bennett and Monterae Metz in the 100-meter freestyle and picking up the lone win in the 11-12 age group was Cora Cottrill in the 100-meter freestyle.

The 13-14 age group brought home seven titles as Rylee Yardley won the 50-meter backstroke, the 100-meter IM and the 50-meter butterfly and Lena Rose Walker won the 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter freestyle. The other two victories belonged to the relay teams of Walker, Karson Karickhoff, Liz Hurst and Yardley in the 200-meter freestyle and that same foursome in the 200-meter medley.

Mallory Hughes won all three of her events in the 15-18 age group taking the 100-meter freestyle, the 50-meter backstroke and the 50-meter freestyle.

Earning the lone win for the boys in U6 were Gentry Roy in the 25-meter butterfly; in U8 were Holden Carbera in the 25-meter backstroke and Camdyn Egress in the 25-meter breaststroke, and in the 9-10 age group were Thomas Wilsoncroft taking the 50-meter freestyle, the 100-meter IM and the 25-meter breaststroke and the foursome of Kyler Baisden, Carter Riffle, Warren Austin and Wilsoncraft in the 100-meter freestyle relay.

In the 11-12 age group, Jackson Richards won the 50-meter breaststroke while Brody Jeran won all three of his events in the 13-14 age group claiming the 100-meter freestyle, the 50-meter freestyle and the 50-meter freestyle and Preston Bennett nabbed all three of his events in the 15-18 age group winning the 100-meter freestyle, the 25-meter butterfly and the 50-meter butterfly.

The Splashers were slated to visit the Bridgeport Country Club on Tuesday for their next meet.

They will return home this Thursday hosting Barbour County for a dual meet at 6:30 p.m.
