Softball Lady ‘Cats sweep Glenville State in doubleheader

GLENVILLE- Wesleyan’s softball team answered on the road picking up their first two conference wins. A come from behind victory in game one was thanks to a game tying grand slam in the fourth inning by freshman, Emma Jackson. Game two, the Lady Bobcats were tied 2-2 going into the fifth. The bats for Wesleyan brought across all 10 runs in the the fifth inning leading to a eight-run mercy rule.

Game 1
Josi Fix collected a win pitching 2 1/3 innings allowing three hits, one earned run with three strikeouts. She came in relief for Victoria Wehrberger who pitched three innings giving up five hits, thre earned runs, and two strikeouts. Glenville State struck first in the second inning with a solo home run to center field to make it 1-0. In the third, they would collect three more runs to take their lead to 4-0. In the bottom of the fourth, Emma Jackson tied the game with a grand slam over the left field wall electrifying the Wesleyan dugout. Carlee Ianonne hit a sacrifice fly bringing in Maya Reyes in the sixth giving the Lady Bobcats the lead. Freshman, Sydney Leadbetter would RBI ground out to third base to make it 6-4 going into the bottom of the seventh. Kendall Stoffel secured the save pitching a perfect inning allowing no runs or hits and striking out two batters in the bottom of the 7th.

Game 2
Kendall Stoffel took the rubber for the Lady Bobcats pitching five innings allowing five hits, one earned run, and three strikeouts. Glenville State’s started the scoring with a two-run single in the third to take the lead 2-0. In the top of the fifth, the Lady Bobcats kept the lineup rolling with 10 runs coming across. Kendall Stoffel started it off with a two-run single to center field bringing across Brooklyn Osburn and Jenna Gomez to tie it up at 2-2. Emma Jackson hit a two-run double to make it 4-2. Grace Arnold and Jenna Gomez each hit one-run singles and Alyssa Rohr followed with a two-run single to make it 8-2. Andie Dizon laced a double into right field scoring Alyssa Rohr and Brooklyn Osburn to make it 10-2.
