Several local students earn academic honors at Wesleyan

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Area students have earned academic recognition at West Virginia Wesleyan College for their classroom performance during the 2019 spring semester.

Students who were named to the President’s List are as follows: Brandon Ayers, John Antolini, Shania Clack, Madison Crickard, Lisa Fidler, Thomas Kotol, Samantha Marteney, Taylor Rolenson, Gillian Ross, Kayla Sesco, Hannah Tenney, Phuong Truong, Katie Wamsley, all of Buckhannon; and Stephanie Rose and Kaylea Shannon of French Creek.

The criteria for inclusion for the Wesleyan President’s List is a 4.0 GPA with a minimum of 12 earned hours for the semester.

Students who were named to the Dean’s List are as follows:  McKinley Gaudet, Kiana Harris, Megan Hepburn, Courtney Jack, Corey Johnston, Lisa Karickhoff, Asad Khan, Breanna Marsh, Ashton Maxwell, Sydney Maxwell, Rebekah Megimose, Ashley Mullens, Maranda Peggs, Riley Queen, Kylee Rolenson, Lauren Smith, Lukas Samargo, Kayla Sparks, Seth Stoeckle, Delana Teets, Abbie Tomasula, Krista Waggoner, and Cameron Wilson, all of Buckhannon; Christie Depoy, Matthew May, Eric Roy, Kathryn Wilson, all of Rock Cave; and Joshua Tenney of Tallmansville.

The criteria for inclusion for the Wesleyan Dean’s List is a 3.5 GPA with a minimum of 12 earned hours for the semester.

Founded in 1890, West Virginia Wesleyan College is a private residential college affiliated with The United Methodist Church located in Buckhannon. The college offers 49 majors, master’s degrees in athletic training, business administration, fine arts, and nursing, and a doctorate in nursing.

With 85% of the class reporting, 95 percent of Wesleyan’s 2018 graduating class reported that they were employed or enrolled in graduate or professional school.  Fourteen Wesleyan students have been selected U.S. Department of State Fulbright Scholars and seven as Benjamin A. Gilman Scholars within the past decade.
