Scott Patrick Murray

Scott Patrick Murray, 41, died on Sunday, April 5, 2020, from injuries sustained in a one vehicle accident while crossing West Patrick Street in Frederick, Md. Scott was born October 8, 1978, in Buckhannon, W.Va.

Scott graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School, Buckhannon, W.Va. in 1996, and graduated from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va. Scott was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity.

Scott resided in Shepherdstown, W.Va. and Frederick, Md. after college. He worked several years for Shepherd-Pratt in Frederick, Md.

Scott had a great knowledge of history and always enjoyed a good discussion on many topics, especially politics. As one of Scott’s friend’s mother said of Scott, “He was a kind and gentle person and was so easy to talk to.”

Scott enjoyed his many friends from High School, Shepherd College and many people that he worked with. He loved animals, reading, bike riding, and investing in the stock market.

Scott is survived by his: father and stepmother, Patrick and Ilene Murray, Buckhannon, W.Va.; mother, Janice Colvin Martin, Weston, W.Va.; half-sister, Kim; step-sisters, June Marie Cutright (Brian), Punta Gorda, FL and Johanna Sue Albright (Scott), Buckhannon, W.Va.; step-brother, Burl H. Cutright III (Beverly), Punta Gorda, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Scott was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas C. and Marie Murray, and special aunt, Alice Murray.

In honoring Scott’s wishes, he was cremated. A graveside memorial service and interment will take place Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church Cemetery located at 6550 Hemlock Ridge Rd., Hemlock, WV with J. Edward McDaniels officiating.

The Band of Brothers recently launched their annual calendar fundraiser, aiming to raise at least $40,000 to assist underprivileged children and elderly residents with home repairs. The $15 calendars feature Al Tucker’s West Virginia photos. Proceeds fund about 25 local programs.
