Rock Cave barn decimated in Monday fire

ROCK CAVE – A barn on Flatwoods Run Road that caught on fire Monday was deemed a “total loss.”

According to Banks District Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Roby, the barn used to be a craft store.

At the time of the blaze, the barn was no longer a store and was being used for storage. No one was injured in the incident, and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

The Banks District Volunteer Fire Department, Adrian Volunteer Fire Department, Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department, Buckhannon Fire Department and Upshur County EMS all responded to the scene.

“A couple of guys from Selbyville were down there for a meeting, and they came down and helped as well,” Roby said. “I requested Buckhannon for manpower, and they were great. They came out in force.”
